Antique Dutch Cobalt Glass ‘Dogon Donut’ Trade Beads c.19th Century

$125.00

An authentic strand of late 18th to early 19th-century Dutch-made cobalt glass beads, known as ‘Dogon Donuts’. These beads were historically used in trade with the Dogon people of Mali, West Africa. HO Note: This strand is on a old cobbled thread that is really a peak into the past – anyone who love history will adore this piece. I was very lucky to find this, and I don’t want to sell it. At the top by the closure, there are some even darker beads that look older, there are also some clear beads in the mix, lots of patina and wear with age – this comes with the territory. Perfect for a collection or for a budding designer making something new. These could also have origins in Germany although we are splitting hairs.
Length: 65cm
